The Rise to Fame of Aamir Khan
Aamir began his career as an actor in his uncle Nasir Hussain’s film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). As an adult, he made his debut in Holi (1984) and appeared in two more films, but all were critically or commercially unsuccessful except Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
He began a full-time career in acting with a leading role through the blockbuster Raakh (1989); Aamir received his first Best Actor Award for Raja Hindustani, followed by 3 consecutive hits.
Aamir has been awarded nine Filmfare Awards, four National Film Awards, and an AACTA Award. He was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2006.
Aamir Khan is known for producing and starring in movies, like Lagaan (2001), which were released during the early 2000s. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won a National Film Award for Best Popular Film and three more Filmfare Awards.

Directing is a crucial role that requires many skills developed over time. Aamir’s first film was Taare Zameen Par, winning the Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director.
His biggest commercial successes have been Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK, and Dangal – each earning more money than any other Indian film of its time. Most recently, Aamir won his third Best Director award at Filmfare for Dangal.
