John Abraham is a native of India. He was born on December 17, 1972, in Bombay, Maharashtra. John grew up in Mumbai.
As a teenager, he attended the Bombay Scottish School. Still, he later moved on to Jai Hind College, where he studied until receiving his degree in management from MET Institute of Management.
The Rise to Fame of John Abraham
Abraham started off his modeling career as part of the music video for “Surma” by the Punjabi singer Jazzy B.
He next joined Time & Space Media Entertainment Promotions Ltd., but later it was learned that the company was bankrupt due to financial woes.
The media firm Enterprises-Nexus eventually hired him as their media planner.
He won the Gladrags Manhunt Contest in 1999 and competed for Manhunt International in the Philippines, where he ultimately went home with second place prizes.
After modeling for many advertisements and companies, he made his film debut in Jism, where he was recognized at the Filmfare Awards for receiving a nomination for Best Male Debut.
This achievement eventually led to his breakout roles as an antagonist in Dhoom and Zinda. He was praised for both films where he played an antagonist; one of those films became the highest-grossing Bollywood film that year.
In 2005, Abraham was applauded by critics and audiences alike for playing a fairytale non-human role in Water.
His most recent significant role came about when he played the titular character in Baabul, where his performance earned him a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award nomination.
In 2012, Abraham made his Bollywood debut by producing the romantic comedy film Vicky Donor, which became a major critical and commercial success; it earned him several accolades, including two National Film Awards.
John Abraham and Wife, Priya Runchal
In 2002, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu teamed up for the movie Jism. While filming the movie, the stars became romantically involved. Although they dated until early 2011, they never confirmed their relationship status to the media. But the two separated shortly after.
Abraham is now happily married to Priya Runchal. The couple got married on January 3, 2014, in a private ceremony.
John and Priya met in Mumbai in 2010. Priya Runchal is an NRI financial analyst and investment banker. She is from the US but is a native to McLeodGanj.

Abraham has also been very involved with the United Way. In January 2009, he was one of several (10 or so) celebrities who participated in a flag-off event for the Mumbai Marathon.
He was not running the marathon but went to the start line to cheer on all of those runners and make sure that they were adequately prepared for what was ahead of them during their 25-mile run/walk.
