George Stephanopoulos is an American political commentator, news anchor, and senior media correspondent for ABC News. He is a three-time co-host of ABC’s political talk show This Week and hosts ABC’s Sunday morning political affairs show, This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.
George was a graduate of Colombia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also graduated with honors, summa cum laude. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Laws in 2007 from St. John’s University.
The Rise to Fame of George Stephanopoulos
George Stephanopoulos is famous as the former political operative who became the chief news correspondent for ABC News. He planned to give up journalism and devote himself to practicing law, but he found it his true calling after a while.
Eventually, he returned to journalism and is now a host of This Week, which features interviews with key political figures and commentary.
Before being a journalist, Stephanopoulos was an advisor to the Democratic Party, best known for its influence on advancing democracy across the globe and for protecting people who were otherwise powerless.
George rose to early prominence after his role as communications director for Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign, where he earned the trust of both Bill and Hillary, who would later call upon this former advisor as they started their political careers.
George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth
George is married to a famous American actress, comedian, writer, and TV personality, Ali Wentworth. The couple tied the knot at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in 2001 and just celebrated their 20 years together. They have two beautiful daughters named Elliott Anastasia and Harper Andrea.
George and Ali dated for two months before George popped the question. Ali mentioned that she wasn’t interested in George at first but look at the love they have built now. They had their first date at the Barneys New York, and the rest is history.

Ali Wentworth is a graduate of Dana Hall School for Girls, and she studied drama at Bard College. She then graduated from New York University.
Ali Wentworth is known for her work in “In Living Color” because of her famous celebrity impressions. She also made appearances in several films like The Real Blonde, The Love Bug, and It’s Complicated. Ali also worked once as a correspondent on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Ali was also a host and formerly hosted shows like The Daily Shot with Ali Wentworth on Yahoo. She starred in a TV series named Nightcap, where she was the creator and writer.
Ali is a good person. She supports a nonprofit organization, the Child Mind Institute, dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families who face challenges of mental health and learning disorders.
